我們常收到學員留言，不知道該怎樣用一些近義詞，下面就為大家講解一下。

1.期待: Expect or look forward to?

"Love your shows! Expect new shows!"  很喜歡你們的節(jié)目，期待新節(jié)目！
這里，不該用expect，而應該用look forward to。
"Love your shows! Look forwad to new shows!"  很喜歡你們的節(jié)目，期待新節(jié)目！

為什么呢？

Expect指的是基于標準、要求的期待；應該發(fā)生。
A boss expects a lot from his employees。老板對員工有高要求、高期待

Look forward to指的是期待、愿望、盼望。

I'm really looking forward to the weekend: 我好期待周末

2.開燈: Turn on or open?

中文慣性，說“開燈”，很容易脫口而出“open the light"。
Can you open the light? 應該是Can you turn on the light? 

怎么區(qū)分？

電器、電子設備用turn on:
Turn on the light: 開燈
Turn on the TV: 開電視
Turn on the phone: 開手機
Devices: 設備其它類型的東西，用open:
Open the door：開門
Open the box: 開盒子
Open your eyes: 睜開眼睛對應“開"，“關(guān)”是turn off或者close。

3.名片：Name card or business card?
Name card是Chinglish, 英語可不是這樣說的呢！
正確的是business card。
Business card在口語中，也可以簡化為"card"。
Do you have a name card? 應該說成Do you have a business card? 或者Do you have a card?

4.高：Tall or high?
Tall形容人，high形容樓房？錯啦！
記?。?br /> Tall用來形容人、樓房、樹；High形容山、墻、高跟鞋。
Yao ming is very high.應該說成Yao ming is very tall.

The building is very high.應該說成The building is very tall.

The trees are very high.應該說成The trees are very tall.

The mountain is very tall.應該說成The mountain is very high。

High heels: 高跟鞋
These heels are so high。這雙鞋的鞋跟好高啊。

5.Fun or funny?
常見錯誤：
The party last night was so funny! 應該說成The party last night was so fun!

怎么區(qū)分？
Fun: 好玩兒、有樂趣、有意思
We had so much fun together: 我們一起玩兒得好開心！
It's so fun to learn English! 學英語很有樂趣！

Funny: 搞笑
Stephen Chou's movies are so funny! 周星馳的電影很搞笑！
My boyfriend's jokes are not funny at all! 我男友的笑話一點兒也不好笑。

注意：一個人可以同時fun和funny！
Fun口語里也常做形容詞使用，比如形容人。
看一下區(qū)別：
Adam is a fun person: Adam是個很有意思的人
Adam is a funny person: Adam是個很幽默的人
