今天我們來學(xué)習(xí)這個俚語表達:
on the table
table 是桌子的意思，除了吃飯用的桌子還有辦公/做事用的桌子，這個on the table 字面意思表示在桌子上，但其引申義為某件事情(項目)正在公開處理中。相反，還有另一個很容易理解的短語，叫做off the table ，離開桌子，也就是這件事情（項目）再不予考慮 。
來看看這倆個句子：
1.The case no longer seems to be on the table. 這件案子好像已經(jīng)不再公開受理。 2.John laid his cards on the table and told her how much they could afford .
John亮了底牌，告訴了她，他們付得起多少錢。
