一、表示強調的常用方式

 

英語中表示強調的方式很多，如口語可用重讀來表示強調，書面語中表示強調則較多，如一個比較簡單的辦法就是在謂語動詞前加do。

 

如：

 

Do try this fish. 

請嘗嘗這魚。

 

He did like the girl.

他的確喜歡這女孩。

 

I do hope you'll stay for lunch. 

我的確希望你留下吃午飯。

 

二、強調句的基本結構形式

 

強調句的基本結構形式為“It+be+被強調成分+that (who)…”，其中的被強調部分可以是名詞或代詞，也可是短語或從句。

 

如：

 

It was her English that the girl loves. 

這女孩愛的是她的英語老師。

 

It was after the failure of this attempt that he resorted to force. 

是這次嘗試失敗之后他才訴諸武力的。

 

It was how the young man had learned five foreign languages that attracted the audience’s interest.

引起觀眾們興趣的是這個年輕人怎樣學會了五種外語。

 

It was only when I reread his poems recently that I began to appreciate their beauty. 

直到當我最近重讀他的詩歌的時候，我才開始欣賞這些詩的美。
